This Norwegian News Site Makes You Take A Quiz Before Allowing You To Leave A Comment

Submitted by: fancylad 3 weeks ago Tech

The editors at Norwegian tech site NRKbeta are taking a bold stand at trolls in their article message boards by making its readers answer a question related to the article they just read before they get to comment. Genius or pains in the ass?

having to pass a test should be reserved for things like having kids.

This could be used to weed out people that might make a comment that the sight does not like. Smacks of Intellectual elitism.

As someone who don't know Norwegian. I don't understand a word of that.

fuad119  I had an idea similar to this, it came to me while shaving. But it wouldn't be a quiz on the article, just a general knowledge quiz, designed to screen out idiots and 6,000-year-old-Earth people.

DerryNH I wasn't replying to you, I just couldn't figure out how to post the regular way. I hope I didn't just screen myself out.

A problem I see is if the article contains opinion, the quiz may ask something that can be misconstrued as fact.

I don't see this as a problem at all.

If you read the article fully and really feel the need to refute it you could give the misconstrued answer just so you can place a comment.

Most people wouldn't do that however. They think that by putting in an answer they don't think is true is some how an admission that the writer is correct.

But the joke is on them. Just because the writer wrote and article doesn't give them the right to judge your opinion.

The quiz is doing exactly what it needs to do to keep out the trolls.
Too much effort for them to read, and the ones that do read cannot stand admitting something contrary to what they believe, even if the answers are not actually recorded anywhere and just used as a form of validation :P

Isn't it what the southern states used to do to prevent black people from voting?

Genius, can we have this here too, for post submissions as well.  Then maybe when someone posts an article about Pence's e-mail getting hacked, they will correctly state that it was his Government e-mail, not his AOL e-mail, that got hacked, and not put that misinformation i to MORE posts later.
