The Daily Mail Says World Leaders Duped With Manipulated Global Warming Data

Submitted by: 5cats 2 months ago Science

The study that the Paris Accord is based on is junk, says "Data Science, Climate and Satellites Consultant" John J. Bates, a whistle-blower who talked to The Daily Mail. That the NOAA rushed it out, in violation of their own rules, and that world leaders blindly accepted it says volumes about the "science is settled." Now the NOAA is going to revise it all, downwards, and cover up all their research leading up to the Karl study.

It seems that the data was deliberately manipulated to "end the pause" which has lasted some 18 years so far. Flawed data, a program in its 'Alpha' build having so many bugs it was completely unreliable, and a political motivation to get a study out, ANY study, that showed AGW was rapidly advancing, in order to support the Paris meeting. That's not science, that's politics.

[Just to give this Daily Mail article some depth, Popular Mechanics just published an article that refutes these claims. -- Fancylad]

Today uncovers amazing confirmation that the association that is the world's driving wellspring of atmosphere information hurried to distribute a point of interest paper assignment help uk that overstated a worldwide temperature alteration and was coordinated to impact the memorable Paris Agreement on climate change.

I will say the biggest irony in the back and forth discussions on this issue so far, is that water vapour on a molecule for molecule basis is worse than CO2.  The one fact that everyone appears to agree on is that the clouds coming out of the smoke stack are (mostly) water vapour.

Thankfully, water vapour does drop out of the atmosphere quite readily at current atmospheric temperatures.  If we every get too warm though, keeping water vapour in the atmosphere will get ugly.

punko Spot on. As you've suggested, at some point water vapor could become more of a problem than carbon dioxide in terms of runaway heating. But the planet would have to heat up a lot more before that's the case--and the gas that's doing most of the heating between our current state and that tipping point is CO2.

Plus, just to keep things in perspective here: The amount of water vapor a power plant releases into the air is inconsequential compared to what evaporates off the surface of the oceans.

squrlz4ever And worse still than CO2 or water vapour is methane.  Shall we stop eating beef?  Not likely.

I was never suggesting that the output of the power plants' water vapour would even come close to the evaporation portion of the water cycle.  It just struck me funny that the one thing everyone agreed on was a discharge from the stack that was a worse "greenhouse gas" than CO2 !

punko It is AGW Theory that says CO2 will destroy the Earth and kill everyone, not the skeptics.
It is also AGW that says all the new CO2 is human created, none is natural, without a single study to show that.
And it is AGW that ignores all the other factors in long and short term climate change except for CO2 and other 'human made' causes...

Well, let's not forget that this is the Daily Mail. Other Daily Mail headlines include

How a romantic candle-lit dinner can give you cancer
Woman becomes pregnant in the mouth with baby squid after eating calamari
Big headed babies more prone to cancer
One out of every five killers is an immigrant
Oral sex can cause throat cancer
Britain is the country of choice for feckless Poles

I mean, I could go on. Basically, everything that has ever been printed in the Daily Mail can be discarded as irrelevant.

DrCribbens I agree 100%. And yet I'm fairly certain that our president, Donald Trump, will allude to this atrocious piece of disinformation while calling for the gutting of climate change research. The Republicans on the House Science Committee, for their part, have already been tweeting links to the article.

So, yeah, this is where we're at in America: National policy on a matter of extraordinary scientific import is being shaped by a foreign tabloid well-known for its trashy stories. Idiocracy, here we come.

Oh, and as we descend into the muck of stupidity? There will be one voice on IAB championing the cause, his posts sprinkled with LOLZes, ZOMGs, and multiple exclamation marks. I'll leave it to you to guess who.

Man made global warming (aka climate change) is a marriage of politics and a new religion. All you have to do is follow the money trail. Since the last ice age ended about 11,700 years ago...um did we warm up due to the factories, cars, & all other modern advances? Maybe it was a bunch of cattle farts at once huh?

Mikeman64 You're pretty much at the place where a lot of others are when it comes to understanding AGW. Very often, the only exposure to the science people have had has been through the lens of politically-motivated websites. If you're interested in learning some of the science directly from the scientists, I'd suggest NASA's own Global Climate Change website. Their pages on the evidence for AGW are particularly good, with links to the original research studies if you're inclined to dig deeper. Thanks.

Caseledana: Older, conservative, bright, interested in exchanging ideas with others, likes to get the facts right. Have not yet seen him adjust an opinion on anything, but I'm hopeful.

Anyone else find these clips telling?  5cats is a radical right-wing conservative.  He aligns himself with the party of family values, yet harbors a disturbing, child-centered, anime porn fetish that borders on bestiality.  He hates everything liberal or progressive, but at the same time knows that it's only those same liberals/progressives who would accept him for who he is (to a certain extent, anyway).  So why does he so doggedly defend the political party who so clearly rejects him and people like him?  I think the poor guy hates himself - I mean REALLY REALLY hates himself.  Dude, I'm not sure if you know this, but you don't have to live like this.  You are worthy of being loved.  It's OK.  You will be OK.  But you really do need to seek help.

5cats The photo is of a coal power plant in Germany (specifically, the Neurath Power Station, located in Grevenbroich, Northrhine-Westphalia). It's a good choice to illustrate a post on global warming because coal power plants release tremendous amounts of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas that is a major cause of global warming. Just because the billowing vapors you see in the photograph are mostly steam, and not soot, doesn't mean the power plant is generating clean energy. It isn't.

Male 37,248
squrlz4ever The. Steam. Is. Not. CO2. It. Is. H2O. That. is. not. pollution. in. the. picture.
Fuvking pay attention to the actual topic, ok?

Wait, I thought Germany closed all its coal plants. And now relies on coal power from other nations to meet its energy requirements while pretending to be 'green'... either way, this picture is bullshit.

Edit: There might be pollution in the other smoke/steam? But from the cooling towers? Zero.
The point of the picture is to scare people. CO2 is invisible and thus this picture shows NONE... ok? If some is inside the smoke that's moot, you still cannot SEE CO2...

And it's not even on the topic, and neither has a single comment been either. Typical!

5cats Just because there is no CO2 in the picture does not mean that they plant is not releasing CO2 though.  As you said yourself, it's invisible, we can't see it.  Just because we can't see it does not mean it's not there though.  So while no, the steam in htat picture is not pollution and is not CO2, it is still what people picture when they talk about a coal plant and there IS CO2 being released in to the atmosphere by them.  Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's not there.

Male 37,248
waldo863 Of course it's releasing CO2... I do know how it works, thanks.
But the picture is deliberately mis-informing people. It is fear-mongering at it's worst. Same for the Paris Accord.

Male 2,072
waldo863 It's pretty clear why 5cats has tripped up here. Not infrequently, articles on air pollution or even global warming will be accompanied by photos of nuclear power plants, with steam rising from the cooling towers, apparently because a careless editor has misinterpreted the steam as some kind of noxious pollutant. It's an oft-seen, boneheaded mistake.

5cats assumed the photo at the top of this article was a nuclear power plant. He was mistaken, but is loathe to admit it. Thus the verbal and mental gymnastics.

5cats You seem to have no idea what you typed two hours ago, so let me remind you: You were making fun of Fancy for choosing this photo for the article because you didn't understand how it's pertinent to global warming.

Your words: "That 'terrifying photo' Fancy put up? LOOK at the horrible pollution! Zomg why isn't something done about it!! That's steam...."

It was a stupid comment. The photo is perfectly appropriate. In fact, the Neurath Power Station specifically has been criticized by environmentalists because it recently came online with a 40-year projected lifespan and burns lignite, a low-grade form of coal that is inefficient and produces very high amounts of carbon dioxide per megawatt.

There is no one on IAB who consistently makes people upset more than you and your fallacies. I've personally taken months long breaks from IAB because of the negative way you interact with people.
