Why Would This Washington D.C. Cop Attack Kids And Disabled Elderly Couple With Mace?

Submitted by: lalapancakes 2 months ago News & Politics

I don’t have much to say for this post. This is just a video of cops in Washington D.C. drenching children and a couple of disabled elderly people in pepper spray.

Thank goodness Trump wants to give these boys more money and control, right?

Some protesters got violent(we can see the flying rocks) so the cops respond and some non-violent(possibly innocent) protesters get caught in the middle. Now do you really think we should blame the cops for responding or the protestors who started throwing rocks?

Welcome to 2017.  If something happens that you think shouldn't have, it must be Trump's fault.

Kind of a breath of fresh air after the last eight years of Obama being responsible for all bad things, huh?

captkangaroo Conservatives blamed Obama for not handling civilian violence against police.  Liberals blame Trump for not handling police violence against civilians.

Honestly - dont you folk read the paper or watch the news?  This is from the riots that preceded the inauguration.  Not all the protests at the inauguration were peaceful - rather there were crowds of anarchists engaged in a running battle with the police which included the breaking of windows, torching cars and throwing rocks at the police.  In the video you can see the black clad and mask covered rioters picking up huge rocks and hurling them at the police.  I guess the police were just supposed to let these folk burn out the heart of the city? Shame on the "protesters" for bringing their kids using them as shields at the front line of a violent riot.

Bigtoe2 If you're not going to use your children as human shields, what's the point of having them?

It's called 'dispersing a crowd'.  No context as to what the crowd was doing.

Were they all helping the little old lady across the street on her was to bible study?

Or were they part of a rioting crowd being lead by the mean old lady?

Maybe somewhere in between.

My first thought was...what the hell are children and disabled elderly people doing at a protest? The police can't stop and interview everyone they are about to mace to make sure they are healthy enough to get some mace in the face.
If you want to protest, prepare for the consequences.

Umm, is there any context to this video? Without knowing how it escalated into this, there's no way to know if this was an unjustified attack on civilians or a measured response to violent disobedience.

bliznik But, but, but, it's an innocent young kid and an innocent old couple.  People like that should never be maced under any circumstances.....

/sarcasm off

Seriously though, I see things being thrown at the police officers.  This was a violent protest and they responded how they have to.  I am sorry that those people were caught up in a violent protest, but it was their choice to be there.  Who chooses to bring their young child to a protest, when we have seen so many of these protests recently turn violent.  If I was going to a protest, even if it was supposed to be a peaceful one, no way in hell I would take my daughter with me.  Even the most peaceful of protest easily has the potential to turn into a violent riot.  Not a place for kids or the elderly really.

I mean hell, even after the initial spraying, you see people rushing up to help the old lady and the cop starts spraying around them and kinda leaves them alone.
