Rosetta Spacecraft Safely Landed On A Comet This Morning
Submitted by: trimble⚫ 6 months ago
Rosetta, the first spacecraft to orbit a comet, completed its mission by safely landing on it earlier this morning. The comet (Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko), which is thought to have formed near Neptune, was followed by Rosetta for two years before making an outward journey thereby giving less sunlight for Rosetta to generate power. Rather than abandon the spacecraft altogether, the mission crew decided to land the craft and collect final photographs and data from the comet’s surface -- the last photo is show below. Totally out of focus.
