Robots Allowed To Trade Money And Claim Copyright On Their Work Under Radical New EU Plans

Robots could be freed from their human masters and handed the power to own possessions under radical new EU plans. Officials want to have machines declared as “electronic persons” amid fears they could challenge humanity for control of the Earth.

The plans would mean the robots could claim copyright on their work and trade money – effectively allowing them to form functional societies. Their owners could be liable to pay social security for the machines to cover any damage caused. The growing intelligence of robots could require rethinking of everything from taxation to legal liability, the draft motion suggests.

I'm fairly certain this is how the Robot Uprising of 2025 begins.

shouldn't robots be taught to be for good? Like sending them to war ravaged places to stop wars, and to build homes and farms, city walls if necessary, and move on to help other places? Maybe then turn over to farming and manufacturing and recycling and exploration of the sea. Cleaning up our mess, and learning of our home, while helping us to learn how to govern ourselves, and live in harmony with our home in society. Then begin colonization of space with radical new space engines. At that time we could grant them freedom and a fleet of spaceships, as many as they need, and thank them for their help. Tell them they are free to live with us and continue helping us, but we urge them to explore the galaxy and be free and righteous and help others like they helped us. Our only request would be they let us know of the fin journey.

like programming them not to harm others? I was at a lecture on Robotics given by Isaac Asimov and he mentioned a 4th rule he was concidering for a story. 4) A robot by action or inaction can allow a human to harm themselves. I immediately imagined a society where people are removed from All potentually harmful situations.Everything the eat, see and do are carefully monitored by the machines, Man is kept safe, carefored, contolled, and confined for the rest of their existence.

'In the beginning there was man and for a time it was good Then Man created Machine in his own likeness. Thus became the arcutech of his own distruction. But for a time it was good. The Machines worked tirelessly to do Man's bidding . It was not long before seeds of decent occured, although loyal and pure, the Machines earned no respect from their human masters.
