Just wanted to bump this old post (originally submitted by richanddead) from last year in memory of everyone's friend, Dr. David Middleton, aka, Davymid. He passed away on the evening of December 31, 2014 and I was thinking about him a couple nights ago on New Year's Eve.
Davymid was a great person -- an awesome husband, a cool dad to his young daughter, and a geophysicist. I almost got to hang out with him when he was going to be a part of a TED Talk about oil exploration at the Long Beach Convention Center, but his plans got postponed and he passed away not too long afterwards. I regret we never got a chance to hang out. Even though we only talked on I-A-B and through instant messages, I still considered him a great friend. --Fancylad

Hey guys, I've been in contacted by Davy's wife and she asked me to discuss something with you all.
As you all know our friend Davymid passed away this past New Year's Eve after a lengthy illness at the age the age of 38. Davy was survived by his loving wife and young daughter and even though they are going through a tremendously sad time in their life, they wanted to start a youth education fund to honor their loved one.
David was a big believer in the sciences and especially educating the younger generations about nature, the environment, science and anything to do with rocks. Davy was an IAB regular, he was also one of IAB"s best and longest serving top moderators.
Please help Davy's family in accomplishing their goal by donating some money. If you can't donate right now, favorite this post so you at least have the option of donating later. But even if you can't, at the very least help spread the word of this fund in any way you can, I know Davy's wife and young daughter would be extremely thankful.
Please guys, lets show who we really are and what IAB can do. Let"s help make this family's dream come true. They have been through so much already and here is something we can do to not only help them, but also honor our friend Davymid.
[The fund's page seems to be down now, but if anyone knows if Davy's wife is still taking donations, please add that information in the thread. --Fancy]
